It’s a super tooth cleaning machine!
In short it’s the best toothbrush I have ever used. It doesn't appear to miss anything when used correctly. You can feel the clean. I would recommend it on that alone. Out of the box it had 50% of charge when I powered it up. The manual that comes with it gives you an overview of how to set it up and use it. It Explains what the brushing modes are and how to select them. Then there’s an App that you can download and use with the iO toothbrush via Bluetooth. I can’t review that feature because I was unable to get the app to talk to my toothbrush. It paired it with my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus). It took me 3 tries to pair. The app said it couldn’t find the toothbrush even though it was paired and connected. I unpaired and re-paired the toothbrush. No go. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Still no go. Got online and looked for help. Went to Oral B’s site among other places. No luck. Reading over other reviews before writing mine, I see I’m not alone with this problem. No matter. You Do Not need the app to use the toothbrush. From what I can tell, the app is primarily for keeping track of usage and when to replace brush heads. If you don’t plan on using the app, or can’t like me, then just leave bluetooth off. There’s a ring around the top of the power handle where you put the brush head. It changes color as you increase pressure on your teeth. Blue for no pressure (idle), Green for the right amount and Red for too much pressure. I have to look in the mirror to see it. If you twist the brush head’s bristle area you can see that a rod inside the body of the brush head reciprocates. I’m guessing that the modes listed below use a combination of pressure levels and how far the piston at the end of the power handle mount extends in the brush head body. The farther it extends, the greater the amount of rotation. You press the lower (Mode) button to run though the brushing modes and settings. Use the Power button to select a mode or setting. Settings are shown in the display. Modes are Daily Clean, Sensitive, Gum Care, Intense Clean, Super Sensitive and Tongue Clean. The manual gives a description of each mode. When brushing it will “stutter” every 30 seconds to remind you to change your mouth quadrant and how long you’ve been brushing. It wants you to brush for 2 minutes and if you don’t it displays a face that ranges from frowning (under 2 minutes) to happy for 2 minutes and above. Apparently the App aids with how to brush, where to bush, how long to brush and how to feel after you brush. George Carlin fans will get my phrasing. ;-) Oral-B states in the manual that different brush heads are available for the iO. The iO and the App can be set to remind you when to change brush heads. Every three months assuming you brush twice a day for 2 minutes each time. Brush heads might be a bit large for some people. The manual shows how to clean the iO. Basically Don’t rinse the charger under running water but with everything else it's ok to. The iO comes with a travel case, (charging travel case optional from what I can tell) three brush heads and a charger. The manual states it takes 3 hours to a full charge of a completely depleted unit. The manual also states over charging is prevented by the device so you can place it on the charger when not in use and it will stay topped off without damage. The charger has a magnet that holds the iO on it but it doesn’t take much to knock it off. Do keep that in mind when finding a location to place your charger. The display shows the battery and charging status. Lastly the manual shows how to remove the lithium ion battery for proper disposal at the products end of life. From what I can tell the battery isn’t user replaceable as the manual also states that removing the battery will destroy the product and void the warranty. The iO feels well built and solid to hold and use. It’s expensive but I think you get what you pay for. I would highly recommend it for the performance and results I have gotten with it. Other than the App not talking to my iO I’m very impressed with it. It works like it should without it.

Happy with purchase
My Oral B 1000 toothbrush stopped working. I bought this as a replacement. I was hesitant to spend so much on this toothbrush. Like other reviewers I questioned how different this model could be from the cheaper models. Ultimately I decided to purchase this one because of the different motor. I’m hoping this brush lasts longer than the other Oral B electric brushes in the past. I am pleasantly surprised by the performance of this toothbrush. It does feel different than my older brush. I’ve only used the app a few times. It is interesting to use but I don’t always have my phone on me when brushing. I do like the lights that indicate if you are brushing too hard, soft or just right. I saw some reviews that said they initially had some bleeding so I’ve only used it on sensitive so far. I haven’t had any problems but I have used Oral B electric toothbrushes for years and recently started using a water pick. I’m so so far satisfied with this purchase. Hoping I get many years of use from it for the price.
